About the Author
Dr Cheng-Lung (Richard) Wu is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Aviation at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He obtained his PhD from Loughborough University, UK, in 2001. Since then Cheng-Lung has devoted much of his time to the subjects of airline operations, schedule planning/optimization, and delay/operations modeling, both through his research and also consulting for several major airlines. Cheng-Lung also publishes extensively in major air transport journals, such as the Journal of Air Transport Management and Transportation Planning and Technology, and is an editorial board member of the World Review of Intermodal Transportation Research and the International Journal of Aviation Management.

Mostly academic value, good for beginners

This is a good beginner/intermediate book if you are a student of aircraft maintenance engineering, or just graduated from a maintenance engineering college. It can serve as a good overview of standard scenarios in aircraft maintenance but it is not a comprehensive resource, nor does it try to be. The book didn't give me much practical information i can use in my daily work, so i would say it is mostly academic, but nonetheless usable and valuable if you are new to this line of work. I bought this book when i was in college, and i am now working in this field (2,5 years) as a scheduled/unscheduled maintenance planner, both short and long term.

I work in a EASA Part-M & Part 145 maintenance organization which is owned by an airline, so it's not a standalone MRO. My job is to take care of our own fleet of aircraft (A320 & Q400), monitor the due lists, plan and coordinate maintenance activities with other departments, produce work orders, work packages and supplemental documentation, and so on. We serve 3rd party customers as well. The thing you have to have in mind is that each airline is different and each individual aircraft has its own quirks and its own story (utilization, schedule dynamic, many short hops vs long haul etc..) and how it translates into your daily routine. This is something you can't really learn from a book, only by experience.

So to summarize this review, this book will get you in the right direction in terms of what you can expect if you start working in this industry, and can serve as a good base to build on when you start learning and doing the actual work that is specific to your organization.

Every aspect of maintenance management in one book! Excellent and easy language too!

I had to prepare for an interview after graduation in Aeronautical ENGG. For the position of Planning Engineer in a reputable airline. My limited experience and knowledge in the maintenance management was bothering me and I was all over the Internet searching for books and short listed a no. Of books to buy. Then I came across this book and was amazed to see all information I wanted in one book! I decided to buy this and was worried about the time it will take to ship the book. Then I came across kindle for ipad and bought it right away and it's amazing and more efficient way to read a book! Very thanks to The author, Harry A Kinnison for this treasure! I would definitely recommend this to someone in my shoes or someone who wants to learn the big picture of aviation management !

back then it was eye opening and a good guide to see the whole picture

well I first read this book in 2010 when I was rather lacking experience on the operations and hangar maintenance side of the sector. back then it was eye opening and a good guide to see the whole picture. now after 4 years, 2 of which with hands on experience where I lacked earlier, I see that the information is brief and you may not find answers to all of your questions. still good guide. would be better if it also included whats going on on the other side of the Atlantic.

Amazing series

Book one
KB Winters and Evie Monroe you never cease to amaze me with the antics and characters that you come up with, and this book does not disappoint.

Ryker and Everlie are quite the twosome, Everlie is perfect for Ryker it is just going to take a lot of Ryker to convince her of it, as Everlie is not looking for love or a relationship in any way shape or form. Everlie has one love and that's ballet nothing else matter, she wants to make it to the top and have a lead instead of being in the ensemble. Ryker does all he can do to convince her, he wines, dines her, buys her a beautiful dress, diamond earrings, but is it enough.

I cannot wait to find out what happens between Ryker and Everlie, the cliff hanger ending to this book is killing me.

Book two
KB Winters and Evie Monroe, this series just gets better and better, and the characters that you have created for us are amazing.

Everlie has lived her whole life around ballet, no time for any thing else so it really takes a lot for her to let her walls down and let Ryker in, oh I love his name. But after she does it seems she has doubts at every turn, and does she honestly and truly trust him enough to build a relationship.

The suspense of this series is slowly eating away at me, I need to know who Ryker really is and will Everlie be able to get past all her suspicions and trust Ryker to have a real relationship?

Book three

KB Winters and Evie Monroe, I am wondering how many nights you have sat up thinking about how to keep us in such suspense for so long. As I was reading and getting further along in the book I realized that this would not be the last book in the series and my heart is going to be left shattered for Ryker and Everlie.

So much is keeping Everlie and Ryker apart, the biggest being the lies and secrets that Ryker is keeping and when he does try and come clean with Everlie, it all adds up to her not believing him. But with her shot at being the lead prima ballerina in a show, would it have worked between them any way?

This book three leaves us with more questions than answers, and has me waiting with no patients for book four.

Book four

What an amazing book.

Everlie and Ryker have gone their separate ways, Everlie taking the lead ballerina and Ryker heading home to Oklahoma, they couldn't be further apart but together at the same time. Neither one of them has been able to stop thinking about the other. Spending time together via Skype, texting and phone calls, Everlie decides she is going to go spend a week with Ryker.

Spending a week together was a good thing for Ryker and Everlie, it makes them both realize what they want, but nothing good lasts forever and once again the trust that Everlie gives Ryker is put to the test.

Will Ryker and Everlie ever get things right and have the happily ever after they deserve? Cant wait for book five

Book five

OMG Book five could not have been any better.

In this book we see Everlie make some big decisions about what she wants in life, where she wants to work and what she wants to do with her life, and we watch as she deals with Bennett arresting her best friend.

Ryker comes to the rescue when he hears what has happened with Everlie's best friend, even though Everlie clearly does not want him there, but Ryker is clearly not over Everie and is going no where. We can all clearly see that Everlie is not over Ryker either, even though she cant seem to admit it to herself.

Will Ryker and Everlie have the happily ever after that they so deserve together, will Ryker be able to help Bennett to get Everlie's best friend out of the arms of the FBI??

So much going on in this final installment, loved every last page.

WOW! I'm so glad I had all 5 volumes at once, or I would have been beside myself waiting for the next one. Everlie Harmon was only expected to be a trophy wife, but instead she took her love for ballet with her to Las Vegas. Now she's teaching classes for underprivileged kids, and going to auditions hoping to realize her dream. When her roommate talks her into going out on a blind date, she meets Ryker Knight. He's a Navy Seal who has finally landing stateside. They share an instant connection, and she makes him want a different life. The problem is that Everlie is now caught in the crossfire of Ryker's past, and he has no choice but to keep her in the dark. In the midst of secrets and lies, will Everlie decide that Ryker's life is too complicated and walk away?

WOW WOW WOW! I stayed up late finishing this series, as I couldn't even attempt to go to sleep until I finished it. The character development is great, with awesome secondaries that I can only hope get their own story in the near future. The authors did an amazing job layering together twists and turns that kept my heart racing cover to cover, and the OMG moments suckered punched me on more than one occasion. I swear just as I thought I figured something out, BAM! I was taken in a completely different direction. Simmering chemistry EXPLODES into FIERY FLAMES of sexy scene goodness, and well placed humor had me laughing hard. This series is highly addictive, especially with all the push and pull moments witht Ryker and Everlie's feelings were almost frustrating. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

You will not be disappointed with this series. There's friendship, romance, and suspense all wrapped in this book set.
I absolutely loved reading Ryker and Everlie's story. I hope Tori and Bennett get a story.

Now the almost incredible story of the Loneliest Man in the World is told by a man who, as part of the American garrison at Spandau, and later as Commandant, watched over Hess's every move and action, won his confidence, talked daily with him, and kept a day-to-day record. Was Hess mad? Colonel Bird's answer is an emphatic no. Is he the totally evil man that many think. Again, the author demurs. About the Author
Eugene K. Bird (11 March 1926 – October 28, 2005) was US Commandant of the Spandau Allied Prison from 1964 to 1972 where, together with six others, Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess was incarcerated. In March 1971, Bird’s superiors at the US Mission in Berlin became officially aware of the Bird/Hess manuscripts and other documents relating to the proposed book. Bird was interrogated in great detail, placed under house arrest, and eventually made to resign his position as Commandant of Spandau Prison. This episode, in effect, also ended his military career. Bird and his family relocated to Germany permanently. This book about Hess: The Loneliest Man in the World, was published in 1974 in London. In the Epilogue, Bird describes in detail his interrogation and, indirectly, accuses his superiors and brother officers of gross hypocrisy. Many of them knew of his labors, he wrote, and some had even read the manuscripts and encouraged him with the project. After the publication of the book, Bird campaigned to have Hess released from what had effectively become permanent solitary confinement after Albert Speer and Baldur von Schirach were released on October 1, 1966.

Understand Rudolf Hess through the writing of Eugene Bird.

Eugene Bird's book is a good starting point for those interested in Rudolf Hess. The reader will gain an insight to his personality, state of mind and mission which led to his captivity for 46 years. First published in 1974, the book's author is a former commandant of Spandau prison who was able to gain the confidence of Hess who he talked openly with. Much of the book deals with the conditions confining all seven inmates, and their day to day dealing and illnesses. For readers not wanting to be continually remided of aging men's problems, like difficulty urinating, irregular heart beats, or constipation then this book is not for you. However this "warts and all" book portrays the honest daily existence endured by Hess for 30 years.
Hess is continually questioned about his knowledge (or lack of) about Barbarossa, if Hitler knew of his flight in advance, and life in general. The reader can form his own opinion upon Hess's answers, and Bird's credibility.
Of particular interest was the Soviet Union's continued rejection of Hess's release. This in turn further exacerbated the rumors and misleading information centered around his flight to Britain during world war two.

RUDOLF HESS-THE LONELIEST MAN IN THE WORLD

I highly recommend this fascinating, interesting and revealing book written by one-time Director of Spandau Prison in Berlin Col Eugene Bird. However, before I continue with my review I think it is appropriate for me to quote what Rudolf Hess's son Wolf Rudiger Hess thought of the book. He says in his book 'My Father Rudolf Hess' written in the 1980's the following comments regarding the book:
Bird was U.S Director at Spandau and maintains that he won my father's confidence over the period. My father allegedly gave him permission to use his Nuremberg notes in a publication.
Although Bird's description sounds quite credible in many respects, as a source I consider the book to be of only limited reliability until such time as it's content is confirmed by Rudolf Hess.
With the above in mind, I do not know if the book was ever confirmed as completely reliable by Rudolf Hess (probably not) but Bird's account of things certainly tie in with many facts concerning the 'Third Reich's' most tragic figure.
It is written from the point of view of a humanitarian who wanted to really get to know Rudolf Hess and find out what he was really like. I believe that because of Eugene Bird's kind and compassionate manner, Hess felt able to talk to him and reveal a lot about himself and subjects and events that he had not had the chance to talk about to anyone eles in years of captivity. Eugene Bird states in the book that he believes he was the first person to get close to Hess since Hess's captivity in 1941 which is very probably the truth. Hence you have a very moving and at times very sad glimpse into the life and emotions of Rudolf Hess which would not have been revealed in such detail by other people in Spandau.
The book features Hess's Nuremburg diary entries which make fascinating reading indeed. Also the book features the lives of the other Spandau prisoners up until their various release dates when only Rudolf Hess remained. Eugene Bird is able to tell us the reaction of Hess at that momentous time when he found himself completely alone without Albert Speer and Baldur Von-Shirach.
The book covers Rudolf Hess's illness with a serious stomach ulcer which required hospital treatment. It was after this illness that Bird was able to persuade Rudolf Hess to receive a visit from his wife Ilse and son Wolf who he had not seen since he was 3 years old. The sensitive way in which Bird gently persuaded him to see his family after 28 years is a credit to his sensitivity as a Director and as a man. The book goes on to explain and detail that very first meeting and also later meetings between Hess and his family.
Eugene Bird got to know Rudolf Hess in a very real way and he discovered that Hess was a sensitive, humourous and warm human being who had a sharp intellect and keen interest in things.
A truly fascinating part of the book is devoted to the letters which pointed to the peace mission to Great Britain of Rudolf Hess in which he made an attempt to stop the war.
Hess explains to Eugene Bird how he was trying to achieve peace in 1941.
The book has an unexpected 'twist' at the end. As a result of Bird's liaison with Rudolf Hess to write the book, Bird is questioned and put under house arrest for a time and asked to resign his post as Spandau Director. These events came as a complete shock and surprise to Eugene Bird and he writes about it as an epiloge in the book.
He ends the book by saying he hoped that Rudolf Hess would be released from Spandau one day and that only time would tell.
Sadly, it never happened.

STARHAWK'S NEXT BOOK AFTER "SPIRAL DANCE"

Starhawk (born Miriam Simos in 1951) is an American writer and anarchist activist, well-known for her work in Wicca (e.g., the "Reclaiming" Collective in San Francisco) and ecofeminism. She is a columnist for Beliefnet.com and "On Faith" (the Newsweek/Washington Post online forum). She has also written books such as The Spiral Dance (A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess, Rituals: Invocations, Exercises, Magic), Truth or Dare: Encounters with Power, Authority, and Mystery, The Fifth Sacred Thing, Walking to Mercury, etc.

She wrote in the Prologue to this 1982 book, "This is a book about bringing together the spiritual and the political. Or rather, it is a work that attempts to move in the space where that split does not exist, where the stories of duality that our culture tells us no longer bind us to repeat the same old plots... In essence, this is a book about power. It talks about the differences between power-over and power-from-within, about the stories and thought-forms that convey power, about ethics based on power-from-within."

Starhawk's followup to the Spiral dance, this book has a message, as opposed to being an overview and guidebook type of tome. She talks about the philosophy of her religion, and ties it into activism and environmentalism, and lays out a philosophy of life, basically. A bit dry and didactic, but that is not too surprising with such a subject.

A must-buy for any sake enthusiast

Ah, sake. This rice wine has been around for thousands of years, and is part of many traditions in Japan. As Japanese food styles have become popular across the globe, so has this fine drink, which can be served both warm and cold. To learn more about the history of sake, and to learn how to choose a good brand, this book is invaluable.
To start with, The Sake Handbook goes over each step involved in making sake. Reading through the intricate processes involved helps you understand why there are so many varieties of sake, and why each one has a different flavor. One key step, for example, is the polishing step. The inner part of the rice generally is of higher quality than the outer portion, so the more 'extra' that is polished away, the finer the sake.
Next, Gauntner goes over the various types of sake, and how each is unique. Some of these terms are:
* Junmai-shu is pure rice sake. Only rice, water, and the koji mold are used to produce this top level sake. It ends up tasting heavier and fuller than other types of sake. It uses less than 70% polished rice - this means they have `ground away' the other 30% of impurities.
* Honjozo-shu has a small amount of distilled ethyl alcohol added during the final stages. They then add water later so the alcohol content stays the same. This sake is lighter and dryer than other types. It can be served warm.
* Ginjo-shu uses 60% polished rice. It is also fermented for longer periods of time, giving a complex and delicate flavor.
* Daiginjo-shu is just like Ginjo-shu, but polished to 50% of the original size. It takes even longer to brew and complete. Futsuu-shu - any sake which does not fall into one of the above four categories.
Gauntner describes how sake is tasted, and how an individual can learn to distinguish between various sakes, and figure out the 'type' best suited for his or her palate. To help with this, the entire second half of the book is dedicated to a brand-by-brand evaluation of the best sakes on the market. This is invaluable! No matter if you're in Tokyo or Chicago, you can bring this book in with you to a store or restaurant and compare with ease the various sakes available.
There even is a section towards the back listing the best sake restaurants in Japan. If you're going on a trip to Japan, bring this book along, and know what to order and any special rules about each location.

John really knows his stuff. I live in Tokyo and I run a Liquor shop here. I have studied for years about sake and I go once a year to make sake at a friends family brewery. I got so much insight and new information from John's wonderful book that I only wish he'd written it five years ago! If you already have several books on sake, this is a must to add to your collection, if this is the first book on sake that your going to buy, consider your self lucky that such an informitive and well written book is around to buy. Thanks to John Gauntner for sharing this informaion with all of us.

This book is excellent. It's main sections on How Sake is Made, Drinking and Where to Buy are very detailed. Most of the terminology will be new to those unfamiliar with sake, the author takes the time to explain them in detail. There is the history, the people and some of the ritual of sake as well.
With each of the sake detailed, the author provides tasting notes and information about other sakes from the same brewer.
As a side note of the detail of the book, one of my Japanese friend's found her favourite sake in the book. I went to my local bottle shop with the book, pointed to the picture of the label and found we found it, leading to a night of entertaining drinking.

The single greatest Spirit-filled resource!

I like Bono, too, but it matters little what endorsement Bono gives Dake's material, as it stands on its own.
In my opinion, Finis Jennings Dake is the finest Spirit-filled, Faith-oriented theologian/Bible teacher of the 20th century. Although many have set out to undermine the reputation of this dear saint of God and giant of the faith, they can't shut him up; his writings live on, the most prominent of which is "God's Plan For Man."
It's all here--1000 pages of the most concise, balanced, and profound doctrine concerning everything from the pre-adamic world to the return of Christ. There are also hundreds of pages of teaching on the basic "how-to's" of everyday Christian life--how to pray, what promises are available to the Christian today, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, a step by step exposition of the Lor's prayer, holiness, faith, putting complete trust in the word of God, miracles, deamons, angels, and everything else--EVERYTHING!
There are a few teachings that many will be troubled by, but I implore you to read such teachings in the context of Dake's overall view of man and his relationship to the spiritworld, God, angels, deamons, etc. Dake rightly contends that the beings of the spiritual world (angels, demons, and even God Himself) are as real and physical as we are, sighting a limitless number of scriptures to support his teachings.
And that is a point I can't stress enough: Dake profusely refers the reader to the Bible. My guess is he has cited tens of thousands of scriptures. I have yet to read a single claim made by Dake that is not generously supported with scripture.
Although most would use this work topically, I stronly suggest one sit down and read it all the way through. It will take a while, but it will surely be the most rewarding extended Bible study you've ever embarked on.
"God's Paln For Man" is a must for every Spirit-filled believer!

Great Theologically sound material

I have been using the Dake Annotated Reference Bible since I got saved 10 years ago. Recently I purchased God's Plan for Man, great book. At the moment I am reading straight through and I am only in the first lesson, but as with the reference Bible, it is excellent study material.
As for those who are criticizing the works of Dake, I would tell you like my pastor told me 10 years ago. Chew up the meat and spit out the bones. No, you may not agree with everything, but be like David was concerning Saul, don't touch God's annointed, even if you don't agree with everything he stands for. God Bless

THE BOOK EVERY CHILD OF GOD SHOULD HAVE

I have studied the Bible for over 60 years. I have ministered to tens of thousands of Catholic, Denominational, Non-Denominational and unsaved people through teaching and preaching of what I learned from Finis Dake along with many other scholars. This included teaching on every grade level, Pastoring numerous churches, graduating many students as a Bible College President, Years of Radio and Television programs to mention just a few accomplishments. My personal Library consists of over $100,000 in books alone. I've said all this not to brag but to help establish my qualifications, since it is so easy for those who are only parrots to repeat their mis-guided teachers whose statements are unsupported by true fact.

Out of all the scholars that I have studied under, Finis Dake stands head and shoulders above the rest in spiritual insight and accuracy of the scriptures. He was an exceptional man whom God called to be a gift to the Body of Christ with a great ability to teach the scriptures with simplicity and accuracy. During his lifetime Dake devoted over 100,000 hours of study during his 43 years of ministry. (Figure it out- one hour a day would only equal 365 hours for just one year).

I recommend God's Plan For Man to every Christian for their spiritual enrichment and development regardless if a novice or advanced student of the Bible. I would also recommend checking into all of Dakes books. Don't let the devil deceive you on this genuine man of God. All of these positive reviews are not understated as you will see when you read this book for yourself.
